According to the Birmingham Police Department, the fatal incident occurred around 8:34 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-59 near Arkadelphia Road. Officers responded to reports of a crash and arrived to find Gordon lying in the roadway beside his damaged motorcycle. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary details shared by Sgt. Bryan Shelton indicate that Gordon was struck by an unidentified SUV. The driver fled immediately after the collision, leaving the scene without rendering aid.
