CATAWBA, N.C. – The Catawba community and Bandys High School are mourning the tragic death of Fletcher Harris, a talented collegiate soccer goalkeeper and dedicated student-athlete whose life was cut short in a recent accident.
A Student-Athlete of ‘Discipline and Promise’
Harris, a former standout at Bandys High School, was widely respected for his ability to excel with equal focus in the classroom and on the soccer field. Teachers and coaches described him as a disciplined, humble young man who approached every challenge with determination, serving as a role model for his peers.
A Collegiate Goalkeeper with Proven Composure
Harris’s talent earned him a place at the collegiate level, where his composure and intelligence in goal were quickly recognized. He appeared in three matches for his team, facing nationally ranked competition that showcased his readiness for high-pressure situations.
One of the defining moments of his young career came when he was trusted to play the entire second half against No. 6 Limestone, a nationally-ranked opponent. He also recorded his first career save in a 7-1 victory over Virginia State on October 22, marking a significant personal milestone.
