Azari Lloyd Obituary; Kirkwood Elementary Mourns Loss of Third-Grader Azari Lloyd After Courageous Cancer Battle
The hallways of Kirkwood Elementary School are filled with grief this week as students, teachers, and parents mourn the loss of Azari Lloyd, a beloved third-grade student.

Azari passed away on Wednesday, January 14th, after what the school community described as “a courageous battle with cancer.” In a message to families, school administrators said his “bright light was far too soon extinguished.”

Remembered for his sweet smile and infectious laughter, Azari’s strength in facing his illness left a deep impact on those around him. “Those who knew him speak of a little boy who loved fiercely and faced his challenges with a strength that inspired all around him,” the school’s statement read. “His absence leaves a profound void in classrooms and hearts.”

Counselors and support staff have been made available at the school to help students and faculty process their grief. The district has emphasized the importance of community support during this difficult time.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Azari’s family, friends, teachers, and all who were touched by his beautiful spirit,” the school’s message continued.

The community will have an opportunity to come together to honor Azari’s memory. A celebration of his life is scheduled for Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. The school has asked the public to respect the privacy of the Lloyd family while also holding them in their thoughts.
